Many of the girls who stay at the safe houses have big and impressive ambitions. We actively encourage this – after all, gender equality is something we believe in and want those around us to help champion.

Further education in Tanzania can be very costly, and traditional beliefs around the role of women in the home, mean girls are not always encouraged or confident enough to pursue the career of their dreams.

Up until the age of 18, we ensure girls at the safe houses are in full time education or vocational training.

This helps to pave the way for further education, should that be the direction in which they wish to move. To support this, sponsorship is a way of taking the block of education fees out of the picture, and empowering girls and young women.

We wish to thank everyone who is already sponsoring a girl at Hope for Girls and Women, we are happy to feature some of them here.

If you have any questions about sponsorship, you can drop us a line at sponsorship.hgwt@gmail.com.
